【Event Report】Let’s enjyoy KENDO 6/14

On Sunday, June 14, from 1:00 p.m., the International Exchange Planning team held the event “Let’s Enjoy Kendo!!” in the Lounge.

Members of the Morooka Kendo Club, who are active in our local community, served as instructors. The program included an introduction to the history and philosophy of Kendo, demonstrations by experienced practitioners, and a hands-on experience where participants had the opportunity to hold a bamboo sword (shinai) and try basic Kendo practice.

To conclude the event, those who wished to do so dressed in traditional Kendo uniforms (dogi) and posed for commemorative photographs. It was an exciting and activity-filled two-hour event.

During the demonstrations, the powerful shouts of the Kendo practitioners echoed throughout the hall, creating an impressive atmosphere. Around 60 participants filled the venue with enthusiasm and excitement.

People from a wide variety of countries and regions joined us, with participants representing more than ten different countries.

We hope everyone had the opportunity to experience not only the techniques of Kendo but also the spirit, traditions, and values of Japanese culture through this event.

Thank you to everyone who participated!
