On Sunday, December 7, We held an event titled “Christmas in Germany.”
We welcomed Denise, a former Japanese language learner and an active community interpreting volunteer originally from Germany, as our speaker. She shared insights into how Christmas and winter are spent in Germany.
Denise spoke about the cold, snowy winters, the importance of spending Christmas with family, playful arguments over decorating the Christmas tree, and even the German version of the Namahage! These fascinating, behind-the-scenes stories, which you wouldn’t normally learn through travel, captivated everyone.
Participants also enjoyed traditional German sweets brought from Germany, allowing them to experience a taste of German winter.
A big thank you to Denise and all participants for making this a wonderful event!
