【Report】Lin Shen’s Enchanting Erhu World – Concert Report

On June 8th, the Cultural Exchange Planning Committee hosted a special erhu concert titled “The World of Erhu by Lin Shen.”

This was the sixth time Lin Shen has performed in the lounge, including the Waku-Waku Festival. Her concerts are always immensely popular, and this time was no exception — all 50 seats were fully booked shortly after registration opened.

Although the concert experienced a delay of about 30 minutes due to unexpected audio equipment issues, the audience was treated to a pleasant interlude with Lin Shen’s background music played from her CD. During this time, Lin Shen engaged with the audience, sharing updates on her musical activities, stories about the erhu instrument, and answering questions until everything was ready.

The first half of the concert featured classical erhu pieces. In the second half, Lin Shen performed well-loved songs such as Suzhou Serenade, Ye Lai Xiang (Fragrance of the Night), and Togetsukyo – from Detective Conan, soothing the hearts of everyone present.

Before the final piece ended, the audience erupted into an enthusiastic encore chant, even before the applause — a first for Lin Shen, who was visibly surprised and moved by the passionate request. She responded with a heartfelt performance of Like a Flowing River (Kawa no Nagare no You ni) as an encore.

After the concert, Lin Shen kindly took time for a photo session with attendees, cheerfully posing with many fans. It was a joyful and memorable evening for all who attended.
